Matthew Burden enlisted in the military when he was seventeen. He served first as a paratrooper before joining Special Operations. After receiving a Commission and serving in Europe and Asia, he later became an Intelligence Officer for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).
Matt has a Master of Science degree (Computer Science) from the University of Chicago and an MBA (Strategy) from the University of Illinois. Matt founded BlackFive.net - one of the most visited and linked military blogs - as an homage to a friend killed in action in Iraq. Matt also authored and edited a book for Simon & Schuster about the military, combat, and new media - "The Blog of War".
